DROWNED

I've always been fascinated by the eyes of drowned creatures, and the peculiar pale glossiness of the skin. It's probably fortunate that I don't see it very often.

This morning I fished the poor thing out of my pond. I'm not sure how it fell it, and why it couldn't find its way out again.
I took several shots of it before burying it under a few inches of dirt and a rock. In a few months I'll go back for the bones.

Edit: Several people have asked what it was, prompting me to realize that it's not really all that obvious---it's so alien looking now. It's a small wild mouse. I'm not sure of the exact species.
